You’ve been doing your cardio and lifting your weights religiously for some time now but the results you want are still not there. That’s because exercise is a pyramid and, while nutrition is usually the easiest part of the triangle (no running or heavy lifting at the dinner table), it is usually the most over looked.

First, there is no need to ever go on a diet. The problem with diets is that they limit consumption of a certain energy sources such as protein, carbs, or fat so that you are craving something your body naturally need and when you go off the diet you put the weight back on.

While gorging yourself on carbs is not recommended starving your body of carbs is not either. Carbs are your body’s preferred source of energy. One reason why people lose weigh on a low carb diet is that they lose water weight by depleting their muscle glycogen. Glycogen is essentially carbohydrate that is stored in your muscle. Water is also held in the muscle cells along with the glycogen. Consequently, when you lose glycogen you also lose water weight. The problem with this is that your body becomes like a raisin which was a grape that is just sucked of its juices.

Another type of diet is a low fat diet. However, fat is essential to the body and eliminating fat is not as beneficial as it may seem. Did you know that even though the native Inuit of Alaska traditionally ate a very high fat diet they had a very low rate of obesity. In the islands of the Pacific coconut fat has traditionally comprised 60%-70% of caloric intake however these people have historically been very lean.

So what’s a guy to do? Nutrition need not be a chore. It can be as simple as changing some dietary habits. My wife lost 40-50 pounds in a year by simply eliminating soda from her diet. This is because the main culprit to poor nutrition an epidemic of obesity is not carbs or fat it is processed foods. The people of Alaska and the Pacific did not eat overly processed foods. They ate food the way it was meant to be eaten. Fruits, nuts and vegetables, fish, chicken and beef are meant to be eaten in their most natural and unprocessed state.

As Mike Geary says in The Truth About Six Pack Abs “The historical increase in the use of highly processed and refined foods such as refined flour, refined sugar, and refined/hydrogenated vegetable oils coincides with the increase in degenerative diseases such as heart disease and obesity.” So, if you want to make the most of your gains in the gym or on the track or however you maintain yourself just make some fundamental changes to your diet.

PostHeaderIcon Facial Exercises To Tone Sagging Neck And Jowls



Facial exercises, when done properly can serve as a huge benefit to tone sagging neck and jowls.I prefer to call it the “double-chin” syndrome. It is one that can be easily corrected with the following exercises.

I highly recommend these three easy free face exercises to avoid double chin. If performed 3 times a week you will notice a difference after 1 week or so.

Exercise 1: Sit or stand upright and tilt your head to the ceiling while keeping your lips together but not forcing them closed. Start a chewing movement – you will feel the muscles working. Repeat the chewing movement 20 times. This is a good exercise to help rid you of a double chin.

Exercise 2: Sit upright and tilt your head looking to the ceiling while keeping your lips together but relaxed. Next move your lower lip over your top lip as far as possible and keep for a count of five. Return head to normal position and repeat exercise 10 times.

Exercise 3: Sit or stand upright and gently turn your head to the left, without dropping or lifting your chin. Turn your head until you feel a stretching sensation. Hold in this position for 5 counts and then gently move your head to the right hand side and keep for a count of 5. Repeat 3 times.

These are just a few of the more simpler, easier facial exercises to tone sagging neck and jowls and also to reduce double chin. There are some more intense facial exercises covered but I decided to illustrate these two easier ones so the beginner can see for themselves how effective and easy it is to get results with facial exercises!

The key to healthier cooking is in choosing the right foods to prepare. You can always use your favorite recipe and modify it with more healthy ingredients without giving up on the taste. Simply look at where you can take out the fats and reduce the calories.

For those of you who are not cooking inclined, you can even use restaurant foods and simply alter some of the ingredients. Add some more healthy dressings, sauces and other seasonings. Remove some of the fatty cheeses.

Cooking healthier foods doesn’t mean always eating raw vegetables. Cooking healthier foods involves combining a mix of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants into your foods. It makes no difference how they are prepared.

Cut Down On Fat

Be sure to use reduced fat dairy products and always buy lean meats when cooking any kind of meat dishes. When buying hamburger you will be better off with extra lean instead of regular hamburger meat. Cooking foods like fish will give you the good dietary fats your body needs. The same can be said with eating nuts, olives and other seeds.

When cooking foods in a skillet, don’t overdue it with the oil. If you must use cooking oil, try using olive oil. You can also apply oil with a brush, or use a cooking spray to help prevent you from going crazy with the oil. This keeps the fat in the oil from soaking into your food.

You will hear some cooking experts tell you to substitute other types of liquids for oil. Perhaps using water and even fruit juices to reduce the fat. Another tip to help reduce the fats in your diet is to use vinegar and salsa, instead of butter or cream on your foods.

Vegetables

Raw vegetables such as carrots contain vital nutrients that are necessary for your body to maintain proper health. Cooking your vegetables will not eliminate these vitamins and minerals if cooked properly. Don’t boil or fry your vegetables too long. You want the vitamins and minerals to stay locked in. Try to never soak your vegetables in water. Many types of vegetables will release their minerals when soaked for too long.

Everything in life will work better when done in moderation. Healthy cooking is no different. Experiment and figure out what you want to take out of your diet and what you want to keep in. It will require a little patience and homework. Educate yourself more in this area. Learn what fats you need to eliminate from your daily cooking. Your body is the only one you’ll ever have. Treat it right and it will treat you better in return.
